A beautiful Mongolian yurt for rent on a sustainable project in the ecological reserve of the Serra d´Açor. Stunning waterfalls, mountain walking trails and beautifully preserved old villages nearby.

The yurt is quite large at 6 meters diameter with a futon double bed or two singles. There is a gas stove for boiling water and cooking and plenty of shelf space, but no electricity. We ask that you only eat vegetarian during your stay. We have a rustic elegant solar shower and a compost toilet for your use. Since the yurt is located on the valley floor and we have limited parking at the bottom of our track, you will need to park your vehicle halfway up the mountainside which is a fairly steep 10 minute walk.
A short 5 minute walk away from your yurt is a dramatic gorge of cascading waterfalls and pools called Fraga da Pena, ideal for bathing and picnicing on a hot summer day.
Also nearby is the protected woodland of Mata da Magaraça, a beautiful sanctuary of oak, chestnut and other indigeous trees. There are numerous hiking trails and three beautifully preserved local villages within walking distance that have nice cafes and friendly folks. Within an hours drive you also have the Serra da Estrella, the historic schist village of Piodao, Coimbra and many other attractions.
