Monte Jao Afonso is nestled in the foothills of Monchique and yet only 10 mins drive from the bustling town of Portimao,12km from the historical town of Silves, and 15 mins from some of the Algarve’s best beaches. This beautifully secluded country location is situated in an area of Portugal’s protected forestry. We offer a fun, healthy, relaxing, peaceful holiday retreat ,an oasis tucked away from the crowds of summer
We have an abundance of olive trees, orange, lemon, tangerine, figs, almonds and grapes growing on our nine South facing terraces. Guests are able to buy and pick their own organically grown fruit and vegetables on our 2.5 acres of land, we have an `honesty box` for payment.
You are welcome to relax in our cushioned sun lounges by the main house and take a dip in the pool, sunbathe in perfect peace in our beautiful garden with its wonderful views over looking the rolling hills and countryside. Go cycling, walking, bird watching, we are an ideal spot for painting and sketching, take a walk down by the river, (stream when there has been little rainfall). We also have a beautiful BBQ area with table and chairs for those who wish to cook outside.
If you fancy visiting some of the best beaches in the Algarve there are plenty to choose from and only 15 mins away. Further down the coast, 30 mins east or west you have less crowds. We can always organise you a special picnic with ice cold drinks for those hot summer days. There are many activities available if you are feeling a little adventurous, snorkelling, scuba diving, wind surfing, dolphin watching, horse riding, canoeing, tennis, golf and our family favourite the slide and Splash Water Park in Lagoa only 20mins away.

Casa Rosa is a charming, romantic cottage, tucked away at the bottom of the terraces on the edge of the forest next to a stream. It has been decorated throughout this winter, it oozes character and charm with its own private garden, equipped with sun loungers, table, chairs and parasol. There is a short walk up to the pool to the main house.It has a large double bedroom big enough to have a single bed in if required. From the entrance it has a lounge/dining room with, sofa bed, dining table and chairs, and DVD player, private bathroom. All windows are fitted with mosquito screens.
LOW Season (Nov to March) - E40 per night
MID Season (April to June & Sept to Oct) -E 50 per night.

Hibiscus cottage has undergone major refurbishment during the winter and is now a stunning annexe adjacent to the main house.It has its own large, private garden roof terrace. With beautiful views of the rolling hills and countryside, the terrace is equipped with two cushioned sun loungers, table, chairs and parasol. The double bedroom has a new en-suite bathroom.
Newly fitted and fully equipped kitchen with gas ring hob and electric oven, and washing machine.From the entrance it has a good size lounge/dining room with new tiled floor, sofa bed, dining table and chairs, TV, and DVD player. French doors are fitted with mosquito screens.
