The cottage is situated on the edge of the small village of Mouronho. This typical Portuguese village is surrounded by pine and eucalyptus forests and has many lovely walks. There is a small local café/supermarket, butchers, a small clothes shop, Post Office a chemist and Doctors surgery, all within 5 minutes walking distance of the cottage. There is also a local Social club where you can play pool, ping pong, table football and enjoy a drink.
Accommodation in the cottage consists of one large spacious lounge with open log fire, an open planned kitchen with washing machine, full size gas cooker, fridge and ample cupboard space. Both bedrooms, one double and one twin bedroom have plenty of storage space and enough room for a cot. The family sized bathroom has a large walk in shower with thermostatically controlled taps.
The balcony to the side of the house with far reaching mountain views is perfect for dining and cooking alfresco on the BBQ. There is also a large garden with a small paddling pool an area for sunbathing and enough space for children to play.
In addition the cottage has full central heating and satellite TV and all linen is provided.
The Surrounding Area
Within a 5 minute drive of the cottage there are typical Portuguese restaurants serving the local cuisine.
The river beach at Secarias on the picturesque mountain river Alva has areas for fishing, swimming, sunbathing and also you can hire pedaloes and canoes.
Within a 15 min drive you can reach the lakes of the river Mondego. Here there are also restaurants with a small lake Marina where you can hire a pleasure boat to take you around the lake and you can also water-ski or jet-ski here.
There are many other places to explore. The town of Arganil has a typical Portugese market every Thursday where you can buy local produce at an affordable price. The town of Tabua has basic shops, an internet café, large supermarkets and every Sunday morning has a farmers market. The pretty town of Coja has a river beach which is always popular with families. The old capital city, Coimbra, now a university city has a wonderful ambiance with pavement cafes and river bars.
For the serious shopper there are two modern shopping malls and many boutiques in the cobbled streets of the old town.
Within a 90 minute drive you can reach the sandy beaches of Figuera da Foz and Mira. 60 minutes in the opposite direction you can reach the Serra da Estrela Mountains, which in the winter time is the only place in Portugal that has a ski-resort. This makes for an ideal winter and summer holiday area.

Discount applies to long term lets and repeat bookings.
10% deposit to secure booking.
Remainder to be paid on arrival in Sterling or Euros plus a 100€ holding deposit which will be refunded on your departure.
