Very cosy and beautifully decorated country cottage, sympathetically restored. SE facing in a tranquil setting on the owners' 5ha quinta.

The cottage has double bedroom/sitting room downstairs and double- and single bedrooms upstairs.

There is also a small attic that could be used as an extra bedroom (for a small person). There is a fully equipped kitchen (gas cooker, wood-burning stove, refrigerator, washing machine), bathroom (bath and shower) and separate WC downstairs.
Water is heated from a solar panel and from a wood-burning boiler on cloudy days. There is a glassed-in terrace on the east side and a tile-covered terrace to the west.

Bed-linen, towels etc are all included in the fully-furnished cottage.

There is a small garage and ample parking space. The cottage has mains and solar electricity (the latter mainly for emergency when there is a power cut). Water is pumped from one of the quinta's seven wells ("sete poços"). The cottage has a separate telephone line with 2Mb broadband connection.

Guests are welcome to use the swimming pool, filled by natural spring water from another of the wells on the quinta.

English, Dutch, German and Portuguese spoken. There are four large but friendly dogs, two donkeys and chickens and ducks on the quinta. Because of the dogs it is not possible to accept other dogs or cats. Guests are requested not to smoke inside the house or closed terrace.

The cottage is set in lovely surroundings of pine and deciduous trees, with flower gardens and walkways. There is a small vegetable garden and home-grown produce, including wine and olive oil and chicken and duck eggs, is seasonally available.

Seixo da Beira is about 3km away along a forest road, while larger towns such as Oliveira do Hospital, Seia and Nelas are within 20km distance. All these larger towns have good supermarkets and budget gasoline stations. Nelas (15km) has a rail link to Lisbon, Porto, Faro etc and also an international link to Paris . (www.cp.pt).
