Casa da Ribeira is a small farm situated between Coimbra and Viseu, 5km from the town of Tabua. It is an informal, friendly place, ideal for hosting courses where peace, pure air and beautiful scenery are essential conditions for a positive outcome.
We are a small group of people, who have lived harmoniously together at Casa Ribeira for around 8 years. Originating from Angola, Portugal, Cabo-Verde and Guine Bissau, during these years we have created a bond between our different cultures and traditions. Our life as musicians and dancers of the group Djamboonda has been the base of this communal dream. We believe in the necessity to create spaces where we can put in practice our creative energies and inspire others to build their own positive futures.
Casa da Ribeira is a natural space where you can feel at one with yourself and establish a more intimate relationship with nature.
The relaxing sounds of the stream gurgling by, the dawn chorus, the simplicity of day to day life, all combined with the splendour of the scenery, these are the ingredients that make Casa da Ribeira such a unique place. An essential place for those who desire sincere, organic contact with Mother Earth.
We invite inquiries, associations, working groups, etc. to rent the space for activities such as workshops, massage, music, dance, meditation, seminaries, retreats etc. Casa da Ribeira has Camping facilities, showers, kitchen, and a Dome for the workshops. Casa da Ribeira is part of the Portuguese Eco-Villages network.
Casa da Ribeira is also an ecological camping park for those who desire only to enjoy the calmness and serenity. Local attractions and places of interest in the region include: Serra da Estrela, Luso, Caramulo, Fraga da Pena, Mata da Margaraça, Piodão, Senhora da Ribeira, plus aquatic sports, horse riding, extreme sports in Seia, pre-historic walks, anthropomorphic graves, and local cuisine amongst others.
We have available for your use:
A Stone house - An traditional building, made of granite blocks from the region. It is heated and has a library, where you can relax at the end of the day and share experiences. The house has a small loft with the option of sleeping 6 people.
Ecologic Toilet - The toilets are of the dry composting variety, thus allowing a more environmentally acceptable introduction of human waste back into the fertility cycle. We have three hot showers available, heated by a traditional wood stove.
Dome - Available soon, we will have a Geodesic space, with an area of 120m2 for activities.
Kitchen: Developed from our restoration of a small stone building we have built a delightful kitchen. Here you can savour a delicious vegetarian dish whilst admiring a seductive sunset.
Organic Garden: Our organic garden is an indispensable compliment to our kitchen and the health and well being of all who eat from it.
Camping: Amongst the beautiful olive trees you can choose where to pitch your tent and enjoy nights beneath a sky bursting with stars.
Caravans: We have two caravans available. A 3 person and a 2 person.

Camping 5.00 per person per day
Caravan 15.00 per day
Rent the whole of Casa da Ribeira which includes the geodesic dome, camping facilities, living room, library and changing rooms: 250.00 per day
