This farmhouse is an ideal getaway for those who would like a true taste of country living in Central Portugal.
The owner lives here when the house is not being rented out and thus it retains a welcoming and homely feel. Comfortably furnished in country style the farmhouse has a large kitchen / dining room (with rayburn, gas range cooker, fridge-freezer and double sink) which opens onto a covered patio with an additional dining table, shaded by grapevines, for alfresco eating overlooking the garden and the river. A big bathroom with beautiful moroccan tiles has a bath, shower, WC, washbasin and a washing machine. Upstairs is the living room with double sofa bed and patio doors onto a large covered balcony with armchairs and coffee table. Also upstairs are two double bedrooms.
The farmhouse is equipped with satellite TV. Water comes from the river for washing and from a nearby spring for drinking & cooking. The owner has an organic vegetable garden and guests may help themselves to fresh produce in season. The river Alva is just 50m away at the bottom of the garden and is ideal for swimming, canoeing (canoes available), and fishing. There are many woodland tracks in the area for walking. This is also a great spot for birdwatchers. Supermarkets, banks, etc can be found at Oliveira do Hospital. The historic university city of Coimbra is 40 mins drive, and the coast 1 hour.
Pets are welcome. The owner's cat lives here (outside) year round.
