One full week of glorious harmony singing with Pauline Down, Pete Linnett and guest teacher Julio Pereira. May 27th to June 2nd (arrival day May 26th , departure day June 3rd)

Pete and Pauline led the voice camp in Portugal in 2005. They work very harmoniously and gently together. They will be sharing songs from a range of traditions, from cultures where people sing as naturally as they talk: African, European, Celtic, Gospel and Caribbean, as well as their own compositions. Early morning sessions will draw on Taizé, Harmonic Temple and other sacred music. Songs will range from easy rounds to songs in two, three and four part harmony. Everything will be taught by ear. They believe that singing is our birthright and that it should be accessible to everyone, whatever their musical training or experience.

Pauline lives in North Wales and has been leading voice and singing groups for 18 years, both in the UK and abroad. Her enthusiasm and relaxed manner have a way of instantly putting people at their ease. She believes singing to be a powerful tool for healing at both personal and community levels.

Pete sings with a wide range of people - both children and adults, some with learning difficulties. He runs Lyme Regis Community Choir in England and is one of the Big Sing Dorset team. The ring of the harmony and the feeling generated on the journey into the music is what motivates him.

Julio teaches music full-time locally, specialising in traditional Portuguese music and song. He will visit the camp for a session of Portuguese songs.

Quinta das Estrelas is the home of Suma and Dave Starkie and is situated close to the river Mondego at Póvoa de Midões, Tabua (nearest city Coimbra; airports Porto or Lisbon).We look out on the Estrela mountains, Portugal's highest - the view is breath-takingly expansive - and all who visit find it a peaceful and relaxing place and leave nourished and replenished. May is a particularly lovely month, with an abundance of wild flowers and sunshine.

There are two main singing sessions per day, morning and early evening, with a pre-breakfast slot of more meditative song. Afternoons and evenings after supper are free, and there will be a day off midweek.

We ask you to bring your own tent and bedding.

Prices in GB pounds sterling:
£170
Teen-agers £130, under-teens £85. Maximum 30 adults.

Meals:
The price of the camp includes all meals which will be deliciously fresh vegetarian.

Extras:
A few tents available to rent at £25 each.
Caravan: £70 for one person, £100 for two.
